Finally, we have an official launch of Windows 10 which marks the new era of personal computing. For many people, Windows 10 is bought with a free upgrade. Yes, guys, Microsoft has released Windows 10 officially today (29th July). But do you think we should get Windows 10 or not? Windows 10 seems to be the most substantial modernize OS by Microsoft. Here I am, with a comparison review of Windows 10 vs Windows 8. Obviously, Windows 8 does not impress users a lot, which is the major reason Microsoft has made numerous changes in Windows 10 which are designed in order to appeal more desktop users. With its beta version only, Windows 10 seems to be the most intuitive integration of amazing features with desktop interfaces, touchscreen and better performance. All these together make it a clear upgrade for Windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1 users.

Windows 10 vs Windows 8

Windows 10 vs Windows 8- Start Menu

The major change or improvement with Windows 10 is the return of the Start Menu. When Windows 7 was launched, the Windows users pleaded Microsoft to bring back the Start Menu, but again with Windows 8/8.1, Micorosft paid no heeds to their requests. Luckily, they did provide a way to get back the Start Menu on Windows 8/8.1. And now, with the official release of Windows 10, we have the Start Menu back featuring all the PC setting shortcuts as well as the apps which are used frequently by the users. Users can even find the folders of pictures and documents along with All Apps shortcut button at the bottom. The Start Menu is easily customizable.

Windows 10 vs Windows 8- Cortana

After the Start Menu, Cortana is yet another feature which is missing from Windows 8/8.1. Cortana is a semantic digital assistant by Micorosft, similar to super Siri, which helps in engaging the users in conversation with their device. Apart from easy and simple recognition of the speech, Cortana also examines the web for every minute information and informs the interactions with the users. It is significantly a powerful digital assistant, which judges the user from the contacts, behaviour for serving the better. With this feature, Windows 10 has got a major boost over Windows 8.

Windows 10 vs Windows 8- Tablet Mode

Though this feature can be ignored by the Tablet users, but still it is important to mention here because it easily makes everything back to full screen display. It significantly makes the most in-lined experience of most tablet interfaces, not featuring desktops or windows, similar to that in Windows. It just allows the users in tailoring the design on every device they own easily by picking up the right modes.

Windows 10 vs Windows 8- XBOX

With Windows 10, Micorosft has finally decided to utilize the awesomeness of Xbox. Though, Windows 8 users can easily install the Xbox app on their devices, but it doesn’t offer a true experience of the app. Microsoft has bought the best features from Xbox console and Xbox Live, came up with an inbuilt Xbox app.

Windows 10 vs Windows 8- Apps

Windows 8 does feature Windows store apps with touchscreen friendly full mode, but with Windows 10, users can easily run the same apps in a windowed mode, which makes it quite easier while incorporating yourself into a regular desktop working life. Windows 10 will simply make most of the apps easy-to-use in windowed mode, along with the desktop apps.

Windows 10 vs Windows 8- Notifications

The feature of notifications is yet another major addition to Windows 10. This is the area where the users will get all the alerts about the security flags or Windows updates and new mails. It simply works similar to our smartphones notification feature. It is a simple and intuitive implementation by Micorosft, which will help in organizing all the info together in one area thrown by Windows.

Windows 10 vs Windows 8- Web Browsing

Windows 8 features the old previous long-standing, Internet Explorer, but Windows 10 came up with a new browser, Micorsoft Edge, which is easily customizable. It hosts a lot of new features with a new furnished engine, including a reading mode, integration with Cortana, bookmark for “read later” and much more. Also, it does feature an option for web search, which users didn’t like in its beta version. If you also feel to remove or disable the web search feature, then you can easily do the same to make the web search faster.

Windows 10 vs Windows 8- Price

With the preview versions, Windows 10 was available for free. The Beta version is significant for the enthusiastic home testers as well as for the developers. Windows 10 has been finally launched. And, we have a good news for those Windows 7/8.1/some Windows Phone existing users, that it will be a free upgrade for the first year.

On the other hand, we have Windows 8, which is widely popular among the Windows users. Also, the new PCs certainly come up with Windows 8.1. If you are an end user, then you will have the least knowledge about the cost, but if you have to pay for its upgrade, then you really need to shell out. The standard upgrade Windows 8.1 costs about £79 and Pro costs about £189.

YoFactor

Though Windows 8 was a pretty decent OS by Microsoft, but was poorly received by the Windows users. Now, here we have Windows 10 with which Microsoft has managed to step forward in the right direction. There is no particular reason for not getting a Windows 10 upgrade. Also, it is free and you need not to pay a penny. It is beneficial for those thinking to buy a new PC or laptop with pre-installed Windows 10.

Frankly, comparing Windows 10 vs Windows 8, I don’t see any much competition between these two, because Micorosft has only managed to improve itself from the mistakes which they did with Windows 8/8.1. Windows 10 is even not the perfect choice, but yes, you can say that it is a better one because with its beta version only, it has managed to prove its serious step forward from the previous version.
