Android 7.0 Nougat

With every new Android update, there is an expectation of smooth performance and new features. This time, also it’s no different with Android 7.0 Nougat. Google has come a long way since it started to develop Android and now it’s the 7th version. And not only Android’s version number is increasing but, with every new update, it’s achieving new heights. This time around Android is one of the most used OS which is a feat in itself. So now let’s have a look at all the amazing features and improvements of Android 7.0 Nougat.

Android 7.0 Nougat Features

Split Screen Mode

For so long people have been asking for split screen feature in Android and finally this feature made it’s debut. Till now only custom ROM or the companies using Android with their own skins where providing split screen but this time it’s coming as a stock feature.

In this feature, the screen will be divided into two halves and you can run two different apps in those two halves at the same time. You’ll be able to adjust which app takes how much screen depending on your linking. Now, if you are watching a video on YouTube and all of a sudden you need to reply to a message then you won’t have to leave the video in middle. You can open message app in half of the screen and let your video also play in the first half.

It’s one of the most demanded features although it may not be the most used feature but still it was very much demanded. Practically, people will be able to take full benefit of this feature on a tablet rather than in a phone as tablets have a much bigger screen.

Quick Switch between apps

Quick Switch feature one of those which can really help you save your time for switching between apps. Till now if you had to switch between apps which you have been using then, you have to click overview button and then, switch. But, now you can just click on overview button twice and the most recent two apps will switch in an instant. The same will also work when you are in Split screen mode.

Better Gamin Experience

Android 7.0 Nougat will come with Vulkan API and that will help you enjoy games at their best. The game developers will be able to use this API to develop games which have much better 3D graphics. This will help your phone to play many extensive games in a much smoother and booted way. Moreover, this will give game developers much more room to experiment with their games. Since the developers will not have to worry about their games getting too heavy for phones.

Doze on the go

Doze has really helped Android phones directly from the time it was first released in Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The previous version of Doze can only put a phone in low power mode when the phone is in the ideal mode for a long time. But Doze on the go changes things a lot. Doze on the go will put your Android phone on low power mode even when it’s in your pocket or in your bag. This will help your phone save a lot of battery as soon as you click that power button. But, this will mean that your phone will go into hibernate state and most of unnecessary functions and apps will stop. Functions like GPS, syncing, Wi-Fi scanning and some others will automatically be put to rest when your phone is hibernated.

Custom Quick Settings

There are two main features in custom quick settings. The first one is that you can now rearrange toggle switches directly from the notification bar. You can also add extra toggle switches which are available on your phone.

The second feature is handy, it helps you show some quick toggle switches in a first swipe of notification bar. Previously, you have to swipe twice to reveal the toggle switches but not you can swipe only once to show quick toggle switches. These quick toggle switches are the icons of actual toggle switches which help you get the job done slightly quicker.

Notification Direct Reply

Till now you can only reply to a notification by clicking on it and then, opening the app. But, now you won’t have to open the app to reply, you just need to pull down the notification bar and reply there. The Notification Direct Reply will help you reply to any messages and emails directly through the notifications. It’ll be very useful to save a lot of time as you won’t have to wait for the app to open up.

Bundled Notification

In Android 7.0 Nougat you’ll have bundled notifications from the same app. Currently, if you get multiple messages from the same app then you get multiple notifications. But, now you’ll get a bundled notification for all those notification from the same app. For example, if you are getting multiple emails then all those will be stacked in single notification rather than having multiple notifications. Although you can obviously expand that bundled notification to see all notification and reply from there as well.

Data Saver

As the name suggest, when activated Data save the background apps will not be able to use your mobile data. You’ll be able to save a lot of mobile data using this feature. Till now only OEM’s were offering this feature but, from now on this feature will be included in stock Android only.

Notification Control

This is a nice feature if you have some apps which constantly bother you with their notifications. With this feature, you’ll be able to precisely control the notifications of all the apps. Whenever you get a notification from any app, tap on that for a few seconds. That will show you some options to either block or show notifications silently for that particular app. This way you can just put a stop to all notifications from the annoying apps.

Display Size

Now you’ll be able to control the size of elements on your display. Precisely you’ll be able to increase or decrease your display elements like text, icons and everything else. This will be a very handy feature for old age people since they always complain about such small text on phones. You’ll be completely able to control your display size.

Seamless Updates

On some devices, you’ll be able to download all the latest updates in the background without hampering your work. So your phone will get security update patches and bug fixes but, you won’t have to leave your phone ideal for that.

File Based Encryption

File encryption is a new step towards more security for your person data. Till now only device encryption was done but, with file encryption, you’ll have much more security. Your data will be much safer and any mischief app will not be able to take any benefit of your personal data.

Direct Boot

Direct Boot is something with which you’ll be able to boot to the lock screen directly without providing any password. The phone will not ask password or pin and you’ll able to boot. With this, you’ll be able to get notifications, alarms, and calls, although none of the apps will be able to use your personal data.

Daydream is a feature which will allow your android phone to be used with a VR and you’ll enjoy 3D games and movies. Currently, only a few android phone can do this and those are also running of OEMs. But with Android 7.0 Nougat, virtual reality will be coming to stock android. There are plans to use Daydream with Google Cardboard which will turn your android phone into virtual reality screen.

Basic Utility

With Android 7.0 Nougat you’ll get 1500 emoji and 72 emoji will be entirely new. So Nougat will be also good for social messaging. To make things even better in a social way, you’ll get settings in many local languages. These local languages will prove to be very useful for those who prefer their mother tongue.

These are most of the major things which are new in Android 7.0 Nougat. Most of the new features are not groundbreaking but those are introduced after a deep thought. All the features in Nougat are mostly to make android much easier to use and personal to experience.
